1. know your limits
Use the noise-dose calculator to find out your noise dose. By knowing your noise dose— the loudness at which the World Health Organisation warns of noise-damage— you can make informed decisions to manage your hearing health.
Your noise dose empowers you to decide if you need earplugs, when to use them*, and which ones will give you the best balance of sound quality.
It’s not about being sensible—it’s about knowing when to listen smart.
2. check venue loudness
Some venues have visible sound-meters. For those that don’t use this validated data-safe, free app from the CDC/NIOSH - check the average levels not peak levels :)
3. use your noise dose
If the venue is louder (higher number) than your noise dose, think of volume-control and earplugs. if it’s quieter, then you can decide.
4. get the right earplugs
Not all earplugs are made equal and it’s important to us that your experience is kept sharp. That’s why noise dose matching is key— it allows you to manage sound levels without sacrificing sound quality.
We send you three earplugs options that we have tried, tested and independently selected, all for free. These are high-quality, comfortable earplugs that are matched to your noise dose so you don’t waste money on ineffective earplugs.
5. spread the word
Look after each other —spread the word! Screenshot your noise dose and share it on socials, share with your new smoking area crew, or drop a mention in your festival ticket group.
